On Tuesday, the residents of Greenland voted in parliamentary elections following a campaign primarily focused on the issue of whether to completely sever ties with Denmark.
As reported, the majority of parties in the country are advocating for independence from Denmark, which is recognized as the parent state governing Greenland as an autonomous territory. The main party, the Democratic Party, however, does not strive for independence in the coming years. "Our ambitions include autonomy, but independence is not part of our agenda," stated one of the leaders of the Democratic Party.
These elections are considered critical as they will determine whether there will be an increase in separatist movements in the country or the situation will remain unchanged.
