Greenland, with its capital Nuuk and the town of Ilulissat with their famous glaciers, is one of the most significant tourist destinations. However, tourists can also enjoy small tourist attractions throughout the island, visiting places where only a limited number of tourists come.
The program includes overnight stays in eskimos' huts and on the ice, along with traditional sled dog excursions and northern lights observations. Guests are also offered ice skating on the frozen sea in a helicopter to see the most beautiful natural landscapes and to land on mountain peaks that no one has previously reached.
Silence prevails both in the region and on the small tourist ship, occasionally disturbed by the cracking and scraping of ice. The temperature in this region can drop to 27 degrees below zero. Icebergs rise up to 100 meters directly in front of the tourist ship and along its sides, while it slowly drifts toward Disko Bay, before heading out to the open sea.
Tour guide Sierd Gannich Tomsen reassures tourists, saying: "Don't worry... we won't become another Titanic." As is well known, the famous iceberg, which collided with the passenger liner in 1912, possibly came from this glacier.
As the tourist ship passes through the thick layer of ice over the water, the tour guide adds: "Don't worry, it's just ice." Icebergs, cold, and the historical silence testify to climatic changes, making the 'Ilulissat' region a unique world, where there is no crowd of tourists.
The goal of Greenland, which has a population of 57,000 people, is to ensure a more balanced distribution of tourists throughout the year and across the entire island. This provides a unique experience for tourists and ultimately benefits the local population in all corners of the island, making it a better place to live.
Greenland, which is part of Denmark, is accessible to tourists via a ferry from Copenhagen. The landscape of the island is diverse - from enormous ice-capped mountains to vast snowy plains, offering tourists the opportunity to witness the northern lights and participate in a multitude of winter activities.
Greenland is the largest island in the world, attracting tourists primarily by cruise ships, while others arrive by airplanes. This enormous island in the far north of the planet is a unique tourist destination for lovers of adventures in the wilderness.
